Online Desk: Two former leaders of Jubo League and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were shot to death by some miscreants at Sadar upazila in Laxmipur on Tuesday night. Deceased Abdullah Al Noman, 35, and Rakib Imam, 28, were former general secretary and organising secretary of the district units Jubo League and BCL respectively. The incident took place around 9:45pm in Nagerhat area of the upazila.
Critically injured Noman and Rakib were taken to Sadar Hospital where Noman was declared dead. Rakib was refereed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. But he succumbed to his injuries around 11:39pm on the way to Dhaka.
Police said quoting locals that there had long been a dispute between AL leader Abul Kashem Jehadhi, former chairman of Bashikpur union parishad and AL leader Mahfuzur Rahman, also incumbent chairman of the UP and elder brother of slain Jubo League leader Noman in the area. The duo might have been killed over the issue, local people also added.
Chandraganj Police Station OC Tohidul Islam said police visited the scene but could not be able to arrest anyone yet.
