Online Desk: A low pressure area is likely to form over the South Bay of Bengal around May 7, 2023 and it is likely to intensify, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). It mentioned that the system is under constant watch and being monitored regularly, said a notification from BMD’s Storm Warning Centre.
Meanwhile, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said a cyclone is likely to develop over southeast Bay of Bengal around May 6 (Saturday). Under its influence, a law pressure area is likely to form over the same region around May 7 (Sunday). It is likely to concentrate into a depression over southeast Bay of Bengal on May 8 (Monday).
Thereafter, there is a good possibility of its intensification while moving nearly northwards towards central Bay. The system is under constant watch and being monitored regularly.
However, the BMD said rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary west or north-westerly gusty/squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet where in river ports shall hoist cautionary signal no. One (Repeat) one.
Inland river ports warning valid till 1am of May 4 commencing from 03pm of May 3.
