Online Desk:  Global ready made clothing brand Grameen UNIQLO is going to close business activities in Bangladesh.  In addition to closing their 10 sales centers by June 18, the company has also announced the closure of all business operations. The company made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday which is available on its official website.

“In view of Bangladesh’s significant economic development in recent years, as well as changes to its business environment, we have determined that our company has fulfilled a certain role, and has decided to conclude its business activities,” it said.

Md Sonet Hossain, assistant manager of store, design and construction at Grameen UNIQLO, said retail operations are currently underway, but all outlets will be closed by the middle of June.

The Japanese retail company UNIQLO established ‘UNIQLO Social Business Bangladesh Limited’ in 2010 in partnership with Grameen Bank Group. Then, in 2013, Grameen UNIQLO initially opened a sales center in Dhaka. Then Grameen Uniqlo started increasing sales centers gradually.

Grameen UNIQLO’s closing process in Bangladesh became visible early this year. The company closed four sales centers together last February. These are Nayapaltan, Savar City Centre, Khilgaon Taltala and New Elephant Road.
