Online Desk: Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has suspended services to all internal and long routes of the southern region including Barishal as Cyclone Mocha approaches the coast.
The decision was taken to avert any unexpected accident and the order will remain in force till further order, said BIWTA joint director Md Abdur Razzaq.
The passenger water vessels usually ply on 11 internal routes from Barishal port. Dhaka-Barishal route is only the long route, said the port officials. Besides, goods-laden vessels have been kept suspended too.
