Online Desk: Universal’s “Fast X” had an impressive debut in North America, earning USD 67.5 million, and a global total of USD 318.9 million as the main franchise nears its end.
Although the film experienced lower returns domestically, it made a substantial USD 251.4 million in its international opening. This global opening ranks it as the second highest debut of the year, following Universal’s “The Super Mario Bros Movie” which earned USD 377 million.
“Fast X” claimed the top spot at the box office, surpassing Marvel and Disney’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3”, which has been in theatres for three weeks and accumulated a solid USD 659.1 million worldwide.
Directed by Louis Leterrier, “Fast X” features a star-studded cast led by Vin Diesel, including franchise regulars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Sung Kang, and Jordana Brewster.
The film also introduces new faces such as Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, and Rita Moreno—who portrays Diesel’s grandmother. Additionally, Nathalie Emmanuel, John Cena, Jason Statham, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron play prominent roles in the film.
While “Fast X” marks the final instalment in Universal’s “Fast” franchise, there are ample opportunities for spin-offs in the future.
