By-election to Dhaka-17 on July 17

Online Desk: The by-election to Dhaka-17 constituency that fell vacant with the death of veteran actor Akbar Hossain Pathan, popularly known as Farooque, will be held on July 17.

Election secretary Md Jahangir Alam announced the schedule on Thursday (June 1). Polling in the constituency (Gulshan, Banai and Cantonment) will be held using ballot papers, instead of EVM.

As per the schedule, the deadline for the submission of nominations is June 15, while the date for the scrutiny of nomination papers is June 18 14 and the last date for the withdrawal of candidature is June 25.
