Online Desk: Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has proposed changes to duties on different products in the proposed budget for FY2023-24. It will increase the prices of some products and services and some others may be cheaper.

The products and services which may be costlier are –mobile phone, plastic household products, tissue paper, aluminium utensils, microwave oven, refrigerator, washing machine, electric oven, juicer, blender, rice cooker,  pressure cooker,  printer,  scanner, router , earphones, pen drive, imported nuts, imported coffee, bicycle parts, imported software, cylinder of high-end electric vehicle, imported motorcycle, nicotine or nicotine substitutes, optical fiber cables, imported electric lighting fittings, dates, lift, gold bar, cement , ball point pen, software, polypropylene film,  LPG cylinder, etc.

Products and services down

The products and services which prices may decrease are— sweet products, raw materials for cancer medicines, homemade biscuits, cake, airplane engine, turbo engine, agriculture equipment, sanitary napkin, diaper, malaria and TB medicines, silicon tube, optical fibre cables, hot rolled steel, cold rolled steel, etc.

On Thursday afternoon, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal unveiled a proposed national budget of Tk 7.61 crore for the 2023-24 fiscal year at Jatiya Sangsad.
