Online Desk: On Thursday, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took to Twitter to announce his return to the “Fast & Furious” franchise in an upcoming film, yet to be titled. Johnson will reprise his role as Luke Hobbs, after stepping away from the successful franchise in 2021 due to conflicts with co-star Vin Diesel.

In a video message from Hawaii, Johnson shared the exciting news, stating, “Hobbs is back in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise. The next Fast & Furious film you’ll see the legendary lawman in will be the HOBBS movie that will serve as a fresh, new chapter & set up for ‘FASTX: Part II.'”

The “Fast & Furious” series has been a tremendous box office success, amassing over $7 billion globally, placing it as the fifth highest-grossing franchise of all time.

The most recent instalment, “Fast X”, featuring Diesel and Jason Momoa, debuted last month and had the second-largest global opening weekend of the year, surpassed only by another Universal title, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” It has already earned over $500 million worldwide.

Johnson also mentioned that he and Diesel have reconciled their differences, stating, “Last summer Vin and I put all the past behind us. We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve – and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love.”

Chris Morgan, a seasoned writer in the franchise, will return to oversee the script for the upcoming project and further develop Johnson’s portrayal of the daring diplomatic security service agent he has portrayed in previous films.
