AL central committee meeting at 7:30pm

Online Desk: The Awami League is scheduled to hold a meeting of its central working committee at Gono Bhaban at 7:30pm today. AL President Sheikh Hasina will chair the meeting, said a press release signed by its office secretary Biplab Barua yesterday.
According to party insiders, the meeting will discuss the duties ahead of the elections, role of leaders in preparing AL manifesto and the status of the party grassroots. The meeting will also discuss the ongoing political issues in the country regarding the election, programmes to counter the opposition parties. The election strategy will be determined from this meeting, said party sources.
Sources also said Hasina will give directions to the party’s grassroots leaders to take overall preparations for the national elections. AL leader HT Imam had served as the co-chairman of AL Steering Committee in the previous national parliamentary elections.
After his death, there are various discussions in the AL about who will be given this charge. The final decision may be taken at today’s meeting. Party General Secretary Obaidul Quader has requested all members of the central executive committee to attend the meeting.
AL held a special extended meeting to unite leaders and activists focusing on the next general election and the opposition’s movement on August 6 at the same place.
