Online Desk : AKM Arif Uddin (Arif Hasnat), Director (Ports and Transport Division) of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), has been temporarily suspended after an obscene video clip involving a woman went viral on social media. The information was disclosed in an office order issued by BIWTA on Tuesday (June 23).
According to the order, video clips containing allegations of involvement in a scandal with a woman, corruption, and misconduct by AKM Arif Uddin were circulated on various social media platforms, tarnishing the image of the authority.
As a result, he has been temporarily suspended from service under Rule 41(1) of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority Employees Service Regulations, 1990, for violating Rules 35(b) and 35(e).
The order further stated that he will receive a subsistence allowance during the suspension period in accordance with the regulations. He has also been instructed to report regularly to BIWTA’s Administration and Human Resources Department. Payment of the allowance will be subject to compliance with this attendance requirement.
Meanwhile, the order said that Md Saiful Islam, Director (Administration and Human Resources Division), has been assigned the additional responsibility of Director (Ports and Transport Division) alongside his existing duties.
