BNP reports Tk 22cr income, Tk 15cr expenditure to EC

Online Desk : The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Sunday submitted its audited annual financial statement to the Election Commission, reporting an income of Tk 22.26 crore and expenditure of Tk 15.19 crore in the latest financial year. According to the report, the party has a surplus of Tk 6.07 crore in its fund. A three-member BNP delegation, led by senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, submitted the audited financial report to Election Commission senior secretary Akhtar Hossain at the EC Secretariat at around 12:00 pm on Sunday. The delegation also included the party’s treasurer and state minister for civil aviation and tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat, and assistant office secretary Monir Hossain.
Political parties generally report income from membership fees, donations from individuals and well-wishers, and proceeds from the sale of party nomination forms. Their expenditure usually includes organisational activities, implementation of political programmes, publication of campaign materials, maintenance of central and local offices, salaries of officials and employees, and financial assistance for party leaders and activists in need.
Under the Representation of the People Order, every registered political party is required to submit an audited report of its income and expenditure for the previous calendar year to the Election Commission by July 31 each year.
A political party that fails to submit its financial statement for three consecutive years may face cancellation of its registration under the law.
