S.M Lutfur kabir, District Correspondent :  Cox’s Bazar Government College Teachers’ Council Election for the 2026–2027 term was held in a peaceful and festive atmosphere, with voting conducted for the posts of General Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer. According to the officially announced results, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English, Mitun Chakraborty, was elected General Secretary with 32 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Kazi Abul Kasem, who secured 18 votes.
In the race for Joint Secretary, Assistant Professor of Accounting Maung Thuen Aye emerged victorious with 25 votes, narrowly defeating Imranul Haque, who received 24 votes. For the post of Treasurer, Lecturer of Chemistry Mohammad Harunur Rashiid won with 34 votes, while his opponent, Jannatun Naeem, secured 16 votes. Following the announcement of the results, the newly elected office-bearers expressed gratitude to their colleagues for the confidence placed in them.
General Secretary-elect Mitun Chakraborty said he was deeply grateful for the trust shown by fellow teachers and pledged to work collectively to uphold the dignity of the Teachers’ Council, safeguard the professional interests of faculty members, and contribute to enhancing the college’s academic and research environment. Joint Secretary-elect Maung Thuen Aye described the victory as a reflection of the collective expectations of the teaching community rather than a personal achievement. He said he would work to strengthen coordination among faculty members and help implement constructive initiatives aimed at making the council’s activities more dynamic and effective.
Treasurer-elect Mohammad Harunur Rashiid thanked his colleagues for their support and said he would prioritize transparency and accountability in the council’s financial affairs while working for the welfare of its members. Election Commission officials said the voting process was conducted in a free, fair and orderly manner. Following the announcement of the results, faculty members congratulated the winners and expressed hope that the newly elected council would play a significant role in advancing the institution’s academic environment, promoting the welfare of teachers and staff, and supporting the college’s overall development. The Election Commission formally published the results of the Cox’s Bazar Government College Teachers’ Council Election 2026–2027.
