Fakhrul pays tribute at Zia, Khaleda’s graves before oath

Online Desk : Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has paid tribute at the graves of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia hours before taking the presidential oath. He paid his respects after Friday prayers, said Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP Media Cell, on Friday (21 August).
He said the newly elected president visited the graves of former president Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam and former prime minister Khaleda Zia after Friday prayers, before taking the oath of office at Bangabhaban. He paid his respects, recited Surah Fatiha and offered prayers there. Mirza Fakhrul will take the oath at 7:30pm at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban. Acting Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal will administer the oath to the newly elected president.
The outgoing president, the prime minister, the speaker, the chief justice, former presidents, cabinet members, diplomats accredited to Bangladesh, senior government officials and other dignitaries are expected to attend the ceremony.
