Online Desk : Doctors treating Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and a potential candidate from Dhaka-8 in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election, have alleged that they are receiving threats from India. Speaking at a press briefing on Sunday (December 14), a member of Hadi’s medical team said the doctors involved in his treatment have been receiving threatening phone calls, allegedly originating from India.

The doctor claimed their phone numbers were being circulated on public platforms, with attempts made to track their family members and home locations. “Our lives are under threat. We are being repeatedly threatened over the phone from India. Our contact numbers are being made public and shared across various groups,” the doctor said. Providing an update on Hadi’s health, the doctor said a repeat CT scan was conducted earlier on Sunday, ahead of the medical board meeting.

The scan revealed extensive cerebral edema, signs of oxygen deprivation to the brain, and scattered blood clots in certain areas, indicating a severely deteriorated neurological condition. “According to the latest CT scan, the condition of his brain is extremely critical,” the doctor said, adding that the findings pose serious risks to his survival. The medical team said there are plans to take Hadi abroad for advanced treatment, but no final decision has been made. A case summary has already been prepared by the medical board.

However, the doctor cautioned that Hadi’s physical stability remains a major concern. “Whether the patient is stable enough to be transferred overseas is still a big question,” he said. Sharif Osman Hadi was shot in the head by assailants in Dhaka earlier this month and has been receiving intensive care at Evercare Hospital since being transferred from Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Doctors have consistently described his condition as critical.
