Jamalpur MP from reserved seat raises allegation against AL leader

Online Desk : Allegation of humiliating a female ruling party MP by an Awami League leader at a discussion of the party at Islampur in Jamalpur district has been surfaced.
Hosne Ara MP (Constituency Number: 316, Women Seat-16) alleged that the incident happened at about 10:00pm on Thursday at a party meeting held at the Upazila AL party office. Hosne Ara is a member of parliament from the reserved seat for women in Jamalpur-Sherpur. She is Islampur upazila AL MP and Islampur Upazila Awami League member and Central Krishak League vice-president. She hails from Islampur upazila. Accused Anwar Hossain is the Labour Affairs secretary of Islampur Upazila Awami League. Anwar Hossain, a follower of Jamalpur-2 (Islampur) constituency’s MP and state minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Huq Khan, claimed that no incident of humiliating Hosne Ara MP happended there. Faridul Huq Khan was present when the incident happened.
Local Awami League sources said a discussion on series bomb attacks on August 17, 2005 was organised by Islampur Upazila Awami League on Thursday night. The discussion was attended by Jamalpur-2 (Islampur) constituency’s MP and state minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Huq Khan. Besides, Hosne Ara MP from reserved seat was present. Hosne Ara MP talked about her humiliation with the local correspondents at her residence in Islampur upazila headquarters on Thursday night.
She alleged that there was a leader beside her where she was seated at the discussion. “I asked him that where I am not invited such meetings regularly. None invites me to attend these meetings. I have been maintaining good relation with the State Minister for Religious Affairs. Never quarreled with him. Why I would go for quarrel with him? We work as brother and sister. My leader (Sheikh Hasina) has made me a female MP and state minister is an elected MP. I have no quarrel with him. I went the party office and alleged that meetings take place one after another, but none tells me even making a phone call.”
Hosne Ara further said: “Then Anwar asked me saying “Who are you? Why we should call you. We know everything about you. We know hoe you have become MP. Don’t tell us any story. We also know which party you have come from. At one stage, Anwar put a slap on my hand. Then, I also put a slap on one side of the table and asked Anwar what did he know about me. You must tell it now.”
“Just at that moment, State Minister Faridul Huq Khan told me, “Stop it now. You shouldn’t utter a single word. I’m the president of this meeting.” “Then I asked the state minister that why did he make such remarks. When Anwar put slap on my hand, you didn’t utter a single word,” she said.
