Joining of new Superintendent of Police in Dhaka District

Md. Mizanur Rahman has joined as the new police superintendent of Dhaka district. Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Khairul Alam greeted him at the office of the Superintendent of Police on Saturday (November 29) morning.
Besides, on Saturday morning, he took over the responsibility from the recently departed Police Superintendent of Bangladesh Police Service Association Ad Hoc Committee Md. Anisuzzaman. Md. Mizanur Rahman took charge as the new Superintendent of Police. He was working as Superintendent of Police of Tangail while Superintendent of Police of Dhaka Md. Anisuzzaman has been transferred and sent to Comilla.
Last Wednesday (November 26), the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification for massive reshuffle and posting of Superintendents of Police in 64 districts of the country. In the notification signed by Deputy Secretary of Police-1 Mahbubur Rahman, it has been mentioned that lottery system was introduced as a process of transfer of Superintendents of Police in all districts in view of the upcoming National Assembly elections. After the lottery, he said, new police superintendents have been appointed for 64 districts of the country. However, no decision has been taken yet regarding new appointments or reshuffles in DMP. Before this, on August 6, Home Affairs Adviser. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that before the parliamentary elections, the decision to transfer SPs and related OCs across the country has been finalized on the basis of lottery. This decision was approved in the law and order meeting itself.
According to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), after the announcement of the schedule, the polling officials cannot be transferred without the permission of the Election Commission for another 15 days after the declaration of the election results. This provision also applies to all police officers up to DIG. Already, the Election Commission has sent a letter to the Cabinet Department with necessary instructions after announcing the schedule. It is believed that the EC is going to announce the schedule of the 13th National Parliament election very soon.
Also the newly appointed Superintendent of Police, the senior officer of the District Police,Met the Officer-in-Charge and in-charges of various units and reviewed the overall law and order situation in the district.
