Metro rail services to shut from Friday

The officials and employees claimed the authorities had committed to finalising the rules within 60 working days after September 12, 2024, following recommendations from the advisory committee. After employee protests on February 13, 2025, the deadline was extended again, with a renewed pledge to complete the rules by March 20.

But staff say repeated assurances have yielded no progress, fuelling growing resentment.’ Although lakhs of commuters are suffering due to the suspension of services, DMTCL employees say that the authorities will have to take full responsibility for this. ”We are going on strike out of necessity.
