Online Desk  :  The National Sadaqatul Fitra Determination Committeehas set the rates of Sadaqatul Fitra for the month of Ramadan in the year 1447 Hijri. The minimum Fitra amount has been fixed at 110 taka per person, while the maximum has been set at 2,805 taka this year. The decision was made on Wednesday at a meeting of the committee held in the conference room of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The meeting was presided over by the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Mufti Maulana Abdul Malek, and was attended by prominent muftis and Islamic scholars.

According to Islamic Shariah, Muslims may pay Sadaqatul Fitra in the form of a specified quantity of wheat, flour, dates, raisins, cheese, or barley, or the equivalent market value of any of these items, which is then distributed among the poor. Sadaqatul Fitra becomes obligatory (wajib) for every Muslim man and woman who owns wealth equal to or above the nisab threshold–equivalent to 7.5 tolas of gold or 52.5 tolas of silver. The Fitr must be paid before going to the Eid prayer on the morning of Eid.
