Online Desk : BNP candidate Mirza Abbas has been unofficially declared elected in the Dhaka-8 constituency after various dramatic developments, defeating his nearest rival Nasiruddin Patwary by more than 5,000 votes. According to the district election office, Abbas received 59,366 votes, contesting with the party’s sheaf of paddy symbol. At around 3:45AM on Friday, Dhaka Divisional Commissioner (Returning Officer) Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury announced the result.
He said out of 109 polling centers in the constituency, voting was held directly in 108 centers. BNP candidate Mirza Abbas received 56,552 votes from these centers. In addition, he secured 2,814 postal votes, bringing his total to 59,366 votes. Meanwhile, NCP candidate Mohammad Nasiruddin Patwary secured 51,572 votes from the 108 centers. He also received 2,555 postal votes, taking his total to 54,127 votes.
It means Abbas win with 5,239 votes.
