Online Desk : Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif may be invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Bangladesh’s new government, along with other heads of government from SAARC countries. A senior BNP leader confirmed the development to BBC Bangla, saying that while the oath-taking ceremony will be formally organised by the interim government, the BNP has indicated its preference regarding potential guests.
However, neither the date of the ceremony nor the final guest list has been finalised yet. The move, if confirmed, would signal a diplomatic outreach to regional neighbours at a time when Bangladesh is preparing for a political transition following the 13th National Parliament elections. In the recent polls, the BNP secured more than two-thirds of the seats, paving the way to form the next government. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is set to emerge as the main opposition party in parliament.
