New executive committee approved for BNP Professionals’ Party in Khulna

Staff Reporter : A 41-member executive committee of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Professionals’ Party (BNP Professionals’ Party) in Khulna metropolitan area has been approved, according to party officials. The committee was approved on Thursday (August 7) at the party’s central office in Dhaka, following a decision by the central executive committee and signatures from its senior leaders. The committee was recommended by A K M Ashik Ullah, office secretary of the central executive committee of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Professionals’ Party. Based on his recommendation, the party’s founding president Ariful Islam Zia and General Secretary Engineer Md Shahidul Islam Russell signed the approval for the 41-member Khulna metropolitan executive committee.

Under the newly approved committee, prominent businessman and Rotarian Md Iftekhar Ali Babu PHF has been appointed president, while businessman Sheikh Manju Hasan Apu has been named senior vice-president. Businessman Alhaj Mizanur Rahman, C&F Association President Md Mosharraf Hossain, and Khulna University Deputy Registrar Lovely Khatun have been appointed vice-presidents. Md Repon Tarafder Niam has been appointed general secretary, while Engineer Md Shamim Jihad will serve as joint general secretary.

Rotarian Molla Maruf Rashid PHF has been appointed organising secretary. Businessman Yusa Zahir has been named publicity secretary, while businessman Md Jahangir Hossain has been appointed office secretary. Businessman and engineer GM Morshed Rony will serve as treasurer, while physician Dr Humaira Muslima Babli has been made women’s affairs secretary. Party sources said a full committee for the Khulna metropolitan unit is expected to be formed within the next three to four months.

Speaking at the approval ceremony at the party’s central office in Dhaka, senior joint general secretary Nafis Mahbub, office secretary A K M Ashik Ullah, Dhaka South Metropolitan president S M Musa, central vice-president Mohammad Arfin and other party leaders were present. Meanwhile, central executive committee organising secretary and coordinator for the Rajshahi division Md Saiful Islam Hiraque, along with leaders of the party’s district units in Pabna, Rajshahi, Natore, Kushtia and Satkhira, congratulated the newly appointed Khulna metropolitan committee.

Among those who conveyed their greetings were Professor Md Nazrul Islam Khan Babu, president of the Pabna district committee, and its secretary Lecturer Md Siddiqul Islam; Rajshahi district president Dr Mahabubur Rahman and general secretary Engineer Faruk Hossain; Natore district president Principal Al Asad Bin Said and general secretary Md Nabin Uddin; Kushtia district president Md Shahidul Islam Shahid and general secretary Nilufa Akter; and Satkhira district president Shahidul Islam and general secretary Sheikh Sohorab Hossain Babu. Central joint publicity secretary Md A K Khalek Khan also congratulated the new leadership. In their messages, the party leaders expressed hope that the newly formed Khulna metropolitan committee would work to protect the rights and interests of professionals across the city.

They also said they expected the new leadership to strengthen and organise the party at the metropolitan level and play an active role in democratic movements and political activities. The newly approved committee is expected to begin organisational activities in Khulna ahead of the formation of the full metropolitan committee in the coming months.
