No conspiracy will be able to suppress BNP : Tarique Rahman

Online Desk : BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has said that no conspiracy will be able to keep the BNP suppressed. He made this statement on Saturday at a discussion meeting organised by Amra BNP Paribar and Mayer Daak at the China Friendship International Conference Center in the capital, attended by family members of victims of enforced disappearance and killings.
Tarique Rahman said, “For many years I had to stay away from my country, relatives, and people. Beyond my party leaders and activists, there are these bereaved families across the country. From afar I tried to build street movements against the autocracy. Within our capacity we have tried to stand beside the families who lost their loved ones. Whether we succeeded fully or not is another matter. But there was no lack of sincerity on our part. There may have been limitations, but our efforts continued and will continue in the future.”
He added, “Thousands of our leaders and activists were tortured. Many became victims of enforced disappearance, and some of their families are present here. During the fascist period, more than 150,000 false cases were filed against BNP leaders and activists, the burden of which had to be borne by 60 lakh party members. Hundreds of thousands of activists were forced to leave their homes for years. The cases filed against them were politically motivated.”
