Online Desk : Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder has said that primary students have received 100% books on the first day of the year. He said this after inaugurating the book distribution program at Abul Basar Government Primary School in Agargaon in the capital on Thursday morning. The adviser said that the quality of the books this time is also better than before, which is a big success of the interim government. He also said that this time the government has printed a total of 300 million free books for primary and secondary levels.
The National Textbook and Curriculum Board (NCTB) has said that the total number of books from pre-primary to fifth grade for the 2026 academic year is 85.9 million. After completing the work of printing, binding, and cutting, 100% of the books have already been sent to all upazilas for distribution. On the other hand, the work of printing and distribution of textbooks for secondary, Dakhil, Dakhil-vocational, and technical levels is underway. More than 58 percent of the books have already been distributed. It is not possible to reach 100% of secondary school students with books at the beginning of the year.
