Rangpur quadruple murder : Two accused confess to killings

Online Desk : Police said that two men arrested in connection with the murder of a retired teacher and three members of his family in Rangpur have confessed to the killings in statements recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The accused, Mugdha Das, 19, and Siddhartha Das, 23, made their confessional statements before Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Rafiq-ul Islam at around 10:30pm on Sunday, said Abu Sayeed Chowdhury, an inspector at the Rangpur Metropolitan Court.
Earlier, Kotwali Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Milon Chakraborty, who is also the investigating officer in the case, produced the two accused before the court for recording their statements under Section 164.
Police said the accused confessed to the killings and provided details of the incident in their statements. The four victims were retired Rangpur Zilla School teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, 65, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty, 50, their daughter Agami Chakraborty, 26, and son Ayush Chakraborty, 12.
Their bodies were recovered from their home in the Machhuapara area of Kamal Kachna in Rangpur city on Saturday. The killings came to light after the family’s locked residence raised suspicion among locals. Police later entered the house and recovered the four bodies.
Following the incident, police arrested Mugdha and Siddhartha and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. The latest confessional statements are expected to provide further details about the killings and the events leading up to them.
