Online Desk : Islami Andolan Bangladesh spokesperson and Joint Secretary General Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman has said that Islami Andolan Bangladesh is not in an electoral agreement with Jamaat-e-Islami due to its vague stance on the fundamental principles of Islam and lack of political confidence. Therefore, they will contest the 268 seats in which the candidature of Islami Andolan Bangladesh has been confirmed. In the remaining 32 seats, Islami Andolan Bangladesh will support one candidate or the other on ideological grounds. Gazi Ataur Rahman made the remarks at a press briefing at his Paltan central office on Friday (January 16) afternoon.
Gazi Ataur Rahman said Jamaat-e-Islami will run the country according to Shariah law or not, their Ameer said that if they come to power, they will rule the country according to the prevailing law. But the main reason for the current plight of the country is the existing law. Our politics is to change the law. If the main party to the negotiations promises to run the country according to the existing law, then we are worried. We do politics of policy and when there is a difference of opinion on basic principles, there is no scope for compromise with them.
