Online Desk  :   State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam on Tuesday directed officials to prepare an accurate, data-based report on the implementation of the government’s 180-day action plan. He issued the directive at a review meeting at the Secretariat on progress made under the ministry’s 180-day action plan, prepared in line with the government’s election manifesto. Shahe Alam said the report should accurately reflect progress in initiatives aimed at strengthening local government institutions, modernising urban management, promoting rural development, expanding access to safe water and sanitation, improving waste management, and enhancing civic services.

He said the report should also highlight the impact of these initiatives on people’s lives, with particular emphasis on employment generation, women’s empowerment, local economic development and improving living standards. The state minister instructed officials to present the ministry’s achievements, ongoing programmes and future plans in a factual and realistic manner. He also called for highlighting measures taken to strengthen good governance, transparency, accountability and anti-corruption efforts during the government’s first 180 days.

Shahe Alam said the government’s goal was to earn public trust through welfare-oriented development. Referring to the Prime Minister’s “Clean and Green City” vision, he stressed the need to modernise and integrate waste management systems across the country, including in Dhaka. He urged all relevant agencies to work in a coordinated manner to improve waste management, cleanliness programmes and public awareness to build a cleaner, healthier and more liveable Bangladesh.

The meeting was chaired by Local Government Division Secretary Md Shahidul Hasan and attended by senior officials from the ministry, city corporations, WASAs and other agencies.
