Online Desk  : Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Thursday alleged that certain quarters were using the ongoing student protests demanding the resignation of the education minister to fish in troubled waters and embarrass the government. He made the remarks while responding to reporters’ questions after attending a programme at the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat.

Salahuddin claimed that many of those taking part in the demonstrations were neither genuine students nor HSC examinees, but were concealing their identities to exploit the situation. “There are definitely some quarters that want to embarrass the government. They are concealing their identities and trying to fish in troubled waters by using various issues,” he said.

The home minister said the Ministry of Education had already decided to arrange re-examinations for candidates who were unable to sit the HSC examinations because of adverse weather conditions. He added that students affected by the suspension of examinations under the Chattogram Education Board would also be allowed to sit the rescheduled examinations.
