Online Desk  :  BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday said his party wants to take the country forward by transforming Thakurgaon, Nilphamari, Dinajpur and Panchagarh into an industrial hub, stressing that winning the upcoming election is essential to implement the plan. He made the remarks while addressing an election rally at the Thakurgaon Government Boys’ High School ground at around 11:30am, marking his first visit to the district in 22 years.

The BNP Chairman said, “The rights that were taken away from the people will be returned through votes in the February 12 election. For the past 16 years, the dictatorship has only seen its own interests.” “We want to form a government with the support of the people. We want to make the country self-sufficient in food. Sugar mills, tea and ration industries will be started in Panchagarh. It is time for the people to enjoy their lost rights.”

Tarique Rahman, “This area is agriculture-dependent. Just as we will stand by the farmers, we will develop agriculture-dependent industries in this area. So that employment is created. There are many unemployed youth.” “We want to train the youth to become skilled workers. We have waged a movement. We want to rebuild the country by taking the people along. To do this work, we need the cooperation of the people.”

He said, “If one party speaks against the other party in an election rally, the people will not benefit. The people want to know what we will do for the people. That is why we have presented our plan. Khaleda Zia used to say that she has no other address except Bangladesh. Every leader and worker of BNP believes that Bangladesh is their first and last address. That is why we are standing before the people. We want to rebuild the country with the power of the people.”

Tarique also said, “We saved the country by uprising in 24. During the liberation war in 1971, we did not see who belonged to which religion. It is the same in 24. People of every religion have lived in peace in this country for thousands of years. It will be the same in the future too. No one will be judged on the basis of religion.”
