In his statement, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman wrote that Hadi, who is contesting the upcoming parliamentary election as an independent candidate, was reportedly shot and is currently receiving treatment at the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), as confirmed by hospital authorities.

Condemning the incident, he said that violence arising from political rivalry or differences in opinion is completely unacceptable. Shafiqur called for a swift, impartial and transparent investigation into the attack. He also prayed for Hadi’s quick and full recovery.
