Security beefed up at all airports in Bangladesh

Online Desk : Security has been beefed up at all airports across the country, including the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, following intelligence warnings over possible militant threats targeting key state installations. Airport sources confirmed on Monday that surveillance has been intensified, particularly at sensitive and high-traffic areas within Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The move comes after Bangladesh Police issued an intelligence alert regarding a potential attack by a banned militant group on important government and strategic facilities.
The alert, issued on April 23 through an official letter signed by DIG (Confidential) Kamrul Ahsan, prompted immediate preventive measures. According to officials of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), intelligence inputs suggest that militant groups may attempt to carry out attacks using various methods, posing a serious concern for national security. In response, Police Headquarters directed all relevant units to strengthen security at vulnerable locations, enhance surveillance, and improve coordination of intelligence information to prevent any possible attacks.
Following the directive, airports across the country were placed on high alert, with all law enforcement agencies instructed to take special security measures. Additional personnel have been deployed both in uniform and plain clothes, while intelligence monitoring has been strengthened. Security checks at all arrival and departure points have also been intensified. Authorities have instructed all personnel to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately as part of comprehensive efforts to ensure aviation safety.
