Online Desk : Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP) members have been deployed in 11 border districts to protect national sovereignty, strengthen border security, and prevent cross-border crimes.
In a statement issued on Monday (June 8), Deputy Director (Public Relations) of Ansar-VDP, Md Ashikuzzaman, confirmed the development. He said that under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in 2025, Ansar and VDP members have been integrated into border areas, making border management and security operations more coordinated and effective.
The statement added that, in response to state requirements and security needs, Ansar and VDP personnel are now working in coordination with the BGB in border areas. Currently, members of Ansar and VDP at the upazila and thana levels have been deployed across 11 border districts—Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Joypurhat, Jashore, Jhenaidah, Satkhira, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Sylhet, Jamalpur, and Khagrachhari.
In addition, Ansar battalion members have been kept in a ready and alert position to respond quickly to any emerging situation and provide additional manpower when necessary. The Ansar-VDP authorities said this integration is strengthening the national security framework while supporting BGB operations. It is also helping enhance surveillance, prevent cross-border crimes, and ensure the safety of local communities through a more coordinated and sustainable security system.
