Community policing day tomorrow

Online Desk: Community Policing Day-2023 will be celebrated across the country tomorrow with the theme ‘Police-Janata Oikya Kari, Build Smart Bangladesh’.
All units of police have taken all-out preparations to celebrate the day. Programmes of Community Policing Day-2023 include rallies, discussion meetings and award giving to the best community policing members.
All Metropolitan police, Range, District Police, Specialized Industrial Police, Highway Police, Railway Police units will celebrate the day.
“Community policing is an organization-based philosophy and management, which involved public to reduce fear of crime and solve various problems in the society with partnership between public and police. It is a people oriented, preventive and problem solving policing system,” according to a press release issued by the Police Headquarters today.
It said as part of community policing activities, school/college students are assisted in police work, awareness is build among them against crimes, prevention of child marriage, prevention of eve-teasing, militancy, terrorism, drugs, suppression of women and children, prevention of dowry, misuse of mobile phones, and encouragement of social values.
A total of 8,94,206 community police members in 49,529 committees have been implementing community policing activities across the country.
Police-public interaction through ongoing community policing activities has increased public confidence, participation, cooperation and partnership in police work.
