Online Desk : Nine more people have died with measles and the disease like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Among the deceased, three were confirmed measles patients, while the remaining six died with symptoms associated with the disease, the DGHS Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room said in a statement on Saturday.
Official data show that since March 15, a total of 61 people have died from confirmed measles infections. In the same period, 291 deaths have been reported with suspected measles symptoms. A total of 6,979 measles cases have been confirmed during this time, while the number of suspected infections has reached 47,656.
Health authorities said 33,631 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide so far. Of them, 29,746 have recovered and been discharged.
