Online Desk: Rabina Islam, a grieving widow of Amzad Hossain Babu, has come forward to appeal for justice and compensation after her husband’s tragic demise in a road accident.
The incident, which occurred on 19th March 2024, has left Rabina and her family grappling with both emotional loss and financial hardship.
At a press conference on Monday, Rabina Islam recounts the harrowing events of the accident, which claimed the life of her husband and left his friend, Md. Shafi, seriously injured. The driver responsible for the accident, identified as Araf Atiq, allegedly fled the scene without providing any medical assistance to the victims.
Jannatul Ferdous, elder sister of Amzad Hossain, read out the written statement in the press conference where Amzad’s mother Shamsun Nahar, wife Rabina Islam and Rabina Islam’s elder sister Roksana Akter attended the conference held at the auditorium of Crime Reporters’ Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in the capital.
Despite filing a case against Araf Atiq under sections 95/98/105 of the Road Transport Act-2018, Rabina highlights the challenges her family faces in seeking justice.
Araf Atiq, the son of an influential individual, reportedly lacks a valid driver’s license, yet his family’s status seemingly shields him from legal repercussions.
She emphasizes the financial strain her family now faces in the absence of her husband, who was the sole breadwinner. With a widowed mother-in-law and a dependent brother-in-law, the future appears uncertain for Rabina and her unborn child.
