Then BGB handed over the body to the Panchagarh Sadar Police Station’s custody for postmortem.

It is learnt that the victim Anwar Hossain was the son of Rafiqul Islam of Debnagar area under Tentulia upazila in the district. According to Nilphamari 56 BGB Battalion and locals, Anwar allegedly went to India late Thursday night with a few others to bring cattle. When they were returning with cattle early Friday morning, members of the Chanakia Camp of 93 BSF Battalion chased them inside the Indian border. At that time, locals heard several gunshots.

Upon hearing the gunshots, members of Ghagra BGB Camp in Panchagarh also fired eight rounds of blank shots.  Meanwhile, protesting the killing, the BGB accepted the body of Anwar Hossain from the BSF and then handed it over to police. Contacted, Panchagarh Sadar Police Station’s officer-in-charge (OC) SM Masud Parvez said the body was sent for postmortem.  The legal procedures are under process.
