Online Desk  :  BNP vice chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu said, “The people of this country have not got the right to vote for 15 years, syndicates control the market, and law enforcement agencies are not able to ensure security. If we could have gone towards the polls, this is my own statement, the party’s statement that we could have overcome this crisis to some extent. To overcome this crisis, you have to take pragmatic steps.” He said this as a special guest at the publication event of the book titled ‘Former Army Chief Lt. Gen. Mahbubur Rahman’ written by prominent journalist and fiction writer Jamal Uddin Jamal held at the Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of the National Press Club on Monday.

The publication festival organized by Chhayabithi Publications was presided over by Society for Peace and Progress chairman Albert P. Costa. president of the National Press Club and editor of the daily Kaler Kantho, poet Hasan Hafiz, book author Jamal Uddin Jamal and many others were also present as special guests. Shamsuzzaman Dudu said, “This is not the first mass uprising. Today, I salute those great martyrs who liberated the country and nation from fascism through a mass uprising. They are people born in the pinnacle of time— the youth, the future of this nation. They have dedicated themselves to rebuilding the nation. Many are injured and bedridden. We couldn’t ensure their proper treatment. They are coming out on the streets again and again. But the student-mass uprising of the 1990s made it possible to hold elections within 30 days. But now it seems to be getting stuck somewhere again and again. I understand that the crisis is increasing, but it cannot continue like this. I understand that if we drag it out longer, the conspirators may benefit. Even after knowing this, a general election, a national election is not being given.”
