Online Desk: The High Court has ordered the authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia to expel five of its students temporarily over the torture of a fresher on the campus. Besides, the court also directed the university to relieve Deshratno Sheikh Hasina Hall Provost of his duty.

The five students are Chhatra League leader Shanjida Chowdhury Ontora Ontora and her cohorts Tabassum, Maobiya, Halima Khatun and Ishrat Jahan. HC bench of justice JBM Hasan and justice Raziq Al Jalil passed the order on Wednesday.

On the night of February 12, a group of BCL activists led by its IU unit vice-president Shanjida Chowdhury Ontora and her cohorts, including Tabassum, tortured and forced the victim to undress while videotaping the incident on their mobile phones. She threatened to spread the video on social media if the victim disclosed the matter to anyone. The victim lodged a written complaint with the university administration, including the university proctor, student adviser and the hall provost, demanding punishment of those involved in the incident on February 14.
