Online Desk : A hotel employee arrested over the killing of a 10th-grade student in Dhaka has confessed to the murder, telling investigators that he slaughtered the teenager after she rejected what authorities described as an immoral proposal. According to Rapid Action Battalion(RAB)-3 said the suspect, identified as Milon Mallik, admitted during preliminary interrogation that he killed Fatema Akter Lili, 16, at her family’s rented home in South Banashree in the capital.
He also acknowledged making repeated advances toward the schoolgirl, investigators said. Citing the interrogation, RAB said Milon alleged that he had a prior acquaintance with Lili and had expressed romantic interest through gestures on several occasions. He allegedly told her that he would take her away when her family was out of town. Acting on that plan, he went to the house on Saturday (January 10), at about 2:25 pm, when Lili was alone, and proposed her to leave with him.
RAB said Lili rejected the proposal, telling him she would not go with an employee like him and urging him to stop pursuing her. Immediately after she refused to cooperate with his advances Milon attacked her, said the investigators. RAB added that further interrogation and investigation are underway to uncover all details of the crime. Milon was arrested on Monday morning in Bagerhat Sadar during a joint operation by RAB-3 and RAB-6, RAB said in a text message from its headquarters.
The killing occurred between 2 pm and 4 pm on Saturday at the South Banashree residence. Lili, a student originally from Lakhai upazila in Habiganj district, lived there with her parents and sister. At the time of the incident, her parents were visiting relatives and her elder sister was at a gym. Police said Lili’s father, Sajib Mia, owns a food business where Milon worked. The suspect had entered the house that day to have lunch. Lili’s sister discovered her injured when she returned home and alerted police. A murder case was filed at Khilgaon police station on Sunday, naming Milon as the prime accused.
