Online Desk: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday (April 11) said that Bangladesh’s GDP growth forecast would remain unchanged at 5.5 per cent for the current fiscal year of (FY2023), down from the government’s 6.5 per cent target. It made the observation in its latest World Economic Outlook released on Tuesday.
The IMF made the same growth projection in last January. However, the IMF’s projection is slightly higher than that of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank which forecast 5.2 per cent and 5.3 per cent growth in the same fiscal year respectively.
In the latest version of its World Economic Outlook released on Tuesday, the IMF said Bangladesh’s GDP will grow at 6.5 per cent in FY2023-24. The Bangladesh government has already revised down the GDP growth at 6.5 per cent from original projection of 7.5 per cent.
The country is now implementing a reform programme under $4.7 billion loans from IMF.
