AL leaders, US envoy discuss how to make next election ‘free and fair’

Online Desk: A delegation of ruling Awami League led by its general secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday (March 22, 2023) joined a lunch at the residence of US Ambassador Peter Haas at Baridhara in Dhaka. The delegation also included the party presidium member Faruk Khan, International Affairs Secretary Shammi Ahmed, Information and Research Secretary Selim Mahmud, Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua and central executive committee member Professor Mohammad A Arafat.
They went to US Ambassador Peter Haas’ residence at the latter’s invitation to join a lunch. The Awami League delegation led by Obaidul Quader, who the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, and US Ambassador Peter Haas held lengthy talks on how to make the next general election in Bangladesh “free, fair and impartial.”
They also discussed the range of important work the United States and Bangladesh share, from trade to people-to-people ties and security cooperation. Senior officials of the US Embassy were present during the talks.
