Speaking at the 30th founding anniversary celebration of the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU), Khosru said, “Let us remain united in the coming days to restore democracy. We want to bring back a democratic order in Bangladesh through a fair election. The more it is disrupted and delayed, the more our crisis will deepen.”

A standing committee member of the BNP, Khosru emphasized that restoring democratic governance and ensuring national prosperity are achievable through collective efforts. “The sooner we reach this goal with the cooperation of the media and united efforts of the people, the more beneficial it will be for our country.” He reiterated his party’s stance that the current government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is “fascist and autocratic,” and must be removed to reestablish democratic and constitutional rights. “We carried out a movement for 16 years and through this movement, we have gradually been able to unite,” he said.

Khosru stressed that true reform and development are only possible under a democratic government that is accountable to the people. “There is no alternative to this. No other reform can provide what democratic governance can.” He also highlighted the critical link between media freedom and democracy, warning that any undemocratic government would eventually suppress the media to maintain power. “Democracy and media go hand in hand. The more prolonged the absence of a democratically elected government, the more pressure will mount on the media,” he said. Urging journalists to recognize the importance of democratic governance for their own freedom, he said, “The media must not be obstructed, rather it should be allowed to function freely.” Khosru concluded by stressing the need for tolerance among politicians to ensure press freedom. He later inaugurated the DRU’s founding anniversary celebration by hoisting the national flag.
