BNP leader Aslam indicted in graft case

Online Desk: A court in Dhaka on Thursday framed charges against BNP’s joint secretary general Aslam Chowdhury in a corruption case. Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-4 Judge Sayed Arafat Rahman framed the charges rejecting an acquittal application filed by Aslam’s lawyer in the morning.
During the charge frame, Aslam Chowdhury was produced in the court from jail. He claimed himself innocent in the court. Later, the Judge set July 10 for testimony in the case.
On March 28, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court Judge Md Asaduzzaman took the charges against Aslam into cognisance and issued an arrest warrant against him, although Aslam is in jail in other cases.
The BNP leader was shown arrested on June 1 in a case filed against him for not submitting his wealth statement to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) within the stipulated time.
On December 24 of 2019, ACC Deputy Director Md Nasir Uddin filed the case against the BNP leader with its integrated district office-1 in Dhaka.
