Couple among 3 killed, 2 injured in Feni road accident

Online Desk: Three people including a couple were killed in a road accident in Feni’s Kazir Dighi area early Thursday. The deceased were Shimul, 29, and his wife Yasmin, 21 of Cumilla; and pickup van driver Abu Sayeed, 29, son of Baker Miah of Cumilla’s Burichang.
Delwar Hossain, 65, and pickup van helper Sagar, 22, were injured in the accident. The accident took place around 2:30am on Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
Mohipal Highway Police Station OC Kamal Hossain said a young couple were going to Cumilla with furnitures by a pickup van from Chattogram. When the vehicle reached Kazir Dighi area on the highway around 2:30am, it hit a goods-laden lorry from behind and got twisted.
Police rescued six victims from the scene and took to Feni General Hospital where three were declared dead. The hospital doctor Rayhan Uddin Chowdhury said three succumbed to their injuries and two are in critical state. One left the hospital after receiving first aid. The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue, Rayhan Uddin added.
