Online Desk: A former Union Parishad member was reportedly stabbed to death by miscreants at Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur district on Saturday night. The incident took place while he was returning home from his workplace on a motorcycle at around 11pm in Fuljor village under the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Zahurul Haque, 58, son of late Ashraf Pramanik, a resident of the village. He was a former member of Jorkhali union.
According to the deceased family members, Zahurul used return home by 9pm every day but on Saturday, he did not return home till 11pm. They eventually came to know that he had been found dead half a kilometer away from the house.
Madarganj Model Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Mahbubul Haque said being informed, police recovered the body from the spot at around 11.45pm and sent it to a hospital morgue for autopsy. “The body has multiple stab wounds in its abdomen and back, and police detained seven people in this connection,” the OC added.
