Fakhrul urges all parties to join elections to strengthen democracy

Online Desk : BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on all political parties to take part in the upcoming national elections to uphold democracy and ensure Bangladesh’s political stability. Speaking at the annual event of the Daily Nayadiganta on Saturday morning, Fakhrul said that Bangladesh can only progress through free, fair, and timely elections. “The country will move forward only through acceptable elections. If elections are held on time, we can restore a truly democratic system,” he said. He urged political groups to set aside narrow differences and work together to prevent violence and division. “The election train should be seen as the common destination of all parties, not a cause for conflict,” Fakhrul added.
The BNP leader also alleged that during the previous government’s tenure, around six million workers were falsely accused, and 20,000 were abducted or killed. At the same event, Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, remarked that Sheikh Hasina had previously established BaKSAL with a “unique formula,” where all media outlets jointly prepared and published her statements. Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam, who was also present, said that current newspapers must help end the “culture of fear” created during the former government’s rule.
“It is now the media’s responsibility to expose and overcome that legacy,” he noted.
