Online Desk  :   Education Adviser to Ministry of Education Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar said on Saturday that the government is set to implement a set of selected education policies during its current tenure. Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion titled “The Role of Educational Institutions in Shaping Students into Responsible Citizens”, held at Narayanganj District Shilpakala Academy, Dr. Abrar emphasized that they will leave broader and long-term reforms for future administrations to carry forward.

During his speech, he also stressed the importance of continuity in education policy beyond political cycles. “We will certainly formulate important education policies, some of which we will implement ourselves. Others will be left for future governments to pursue, regardless of political affiliation,” he stated. Addressing issues surrounding formation of managing committees in educational institutions, Dr. Abrar acknowledged past problems rooted in political influence.

He stressed the need for reforms to ensure greater transparency and community involvement. “We are working to overcome these challenges and expect future governments to take educational governance seriously,” he said. Regarding ongoing initiatives, the Adviser mentioned that the government is currently focused on developing a white paper and forming a task force as part of its broader educational reform agenda. “Many constructive recommendations from previous education commissions will also be incorporated,” he added.

The event was also attended by Dr. K M Kabirul Islam, Secretary of Technical and Madrasah Education Division, as a special guest. The discussion was chaired by Siddiq Zobair, Senior Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division. Other speakers included Narayanganj District Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah, Superintendent of Police Pratyush Kumar Majumder, local political leaders, educators and students.
