Innovate for society : CA presents ‘Youth Volunteer Award’ to 12 recipients

Online Desk : “Today’s award is not just recognition,” Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus said, “it is a heartfelt call to action– be braver, lead more, and work on new ideas and innovations for the betterment of society.” Chief Adviser today handed over the ‘Youth Volunteer Award 2025’ to 12 young individuals in recognition of their outstanding voluntary work and inspirational contributions to society. He conferred the award at a function at Shapla Hall of his office in Dhaka this morning.The Ministry of Youth and Sports organized the event while the youths were awarded in five categories. Among the awardees was Afida Khondokar, captain of the Bangladesh women’s national football team.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has said, “Today, we celebrate the power of youth the driving force of our nation. I firmly believe that when the youth of a country are active, enthusiastic, and empowered by innovation, no obstacle can halt their progress.” The Chief Adviser said that the innovative power of youth is no longer confined to the field of education alone. Young people are playing key roles in healthcare, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, and the establishment of social justice.
“It was the youth who led the people’s uprising of ’24, and throughout history, it is the youth who have shaped the destiny of this nation,” he remarked. Dr. Muhammad Yunus added, “As we move forward, new challenges will constantly arise- it will be public health crises, inadequate educational opportunities, or environmental disasters. But instead of being disheartened, we must face these challenges unitedly with our inner strength. I hope our youth will lead in this effort too.” He further stated that voluntary service is not only about helping humanity in distress; it is also an ideal path for self-development, character building, and cultivating leadership qualities.
“We want our youth not to stop at being volunteers,” he said, “but to emerge as policymakers, innovators, and architects of change in society. This will only be possible when they build themselves with confidence, acquire necessary skills, and focus on developing leadership abilities.” ‘Your active participation in every aspect of society can bring about many positive changes. Your small initiative in the health sector can keep thousands of children free from diseases. Your small effort in the field of education can take the quality of education of the country a long way. Your collective efforts in protecting the environment can ensure a safe and green world for our future generations,” he said.
Remember, Prof Yunus added, every small effort will pave the way for great achievements for the country. “I know that the path of volunteering or any great initiative is not smooth. One has to face many challenges of time, money and mental stress,” he said, noting that through this, they have to acquire great qualities like patience, tolerance and leadership.
