He was speaking at a training programme organised by Bangladesh Pratibandhi Kalyan Samity at its office in Dhaka. Khosru stressed that BNP’s politics extends beyond traditional development rhetoric, focusing instead on production-driven growth that ensures both wealth creation and fair distribution. “Investment is not only about money; it is about people. Citizens must be empowered and skilled to contribute to production, which generates wealth. Without production, there is nothing to distribute,” he explained.

Highlighting Bangladesh’s demographic dividend, Khosru said it could only be fully realised if every segment of society, including people with disabilities and the elderly, is empowered. “No one is truly disabled unless they are cut off from work and society. Even at 70 or 80, people can remain productive if properly engaged,” he observed.

The BNP leader called for policies that prioritise empowerment over charity. “Real change does not come from donations. It comes from enabling people to contribute to nation-building,” he said, recalling that former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia introduced policies aimed at empowering marginalised and physically challenged citizens.

Encouraging persons with disabilities to enter politics, Khosru said their voices and leadership are essential. “Your contribution cannot be represented by others. Only you can best present your issues and solutions,” he said, adding that BNP values individuals for their abilities rather than their limitations.

On the broader political situation, Khosru noted that the recent phase of street protests has ended and emphasised the need to restore people’s ownership of the country. “Every political party must seek its mandate from the people. Without public support, democracy cannot stand,” he said.
