Online Desk : BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the government will not be allowed to play game with the upcoming general elections. “We have no choice but to fight until death. The government will be ousted through this time’s movement. If the government doesn’t resign, it will be brought down to the street,” he said. Mirza Fakhrul said: “Sheikh Hasina’s resignation is the only demand of BNP. The ecoh of the demand must be sent to the Ganabhaban and Bangabhaban.” He was speaking as the chief guest at a brief rally in front of Suvastu Tower at Badda in the capital prior to the mass procession organised by Dhaka City North BNP. Chaired by Dhaka City North BNP convener Amanullah Aman and moderated by member secretary Md Aminul Huq, the rally was also addressed by BNP Standing Committee members Nazrul Islam Khan and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.
Mirza Fakhrul said Awami League wants to hold a farcical election hurriedly like 2014 and 2018. “Will the country’s people allow them to do so again?” At that time, the leaders and workers said, “No.” The BNP Secretary General said no election will be allowed to take place keeping Sheikh Hasina in power. Power must be handed over to a caretaker government after dissolving the parliament. Besides, he said a new Election Commission (EC) must be formed.
Mirza Fakhrul said Awami League has destroyed all the achievements of the country’s independence. They have destroyed the democracy, economy and educational institutions. They made destroyed the country’s judiciary most.
“Relying on the judiciary, the BNP leaders and workers are being sent to jail in fasle cases. “Will they be able to stop our struggle? The government will not be able to stop our struggle resorting to repression, firing bullets and lobbing teargas shells. People will realise their rights this time at any cost.” Mentioning that the EC has given registration to two political parties with an ulterior motive. “Nobody knows these two parties. The government wants to play election-election game with these two political parties. But, this time the government will not be allowed to play any game.” The rally was also attended by Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Barrister Shahjahan Omar Bir Uttam, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Abdul Awal Mintu, Zainal Abedin Farruk, Abul Khair Bhuiyan, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, BNP’s organising secretary Shyama Obaid, Mohila Dal general secretary Sultana Ahmed, Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal president Hasan Zarif Tuhin, Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu, Farhad Halim Doner, Mojibar Rahman Sarwar, Engr Reazul Islam Rizu and Engr Md Mostofa-e-Zaman Selim.
