PCP claims rescue of 5 abducted CU students

Online Desk : Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP), Chittagong University unit, has claimed that the five students of Chittagong University (CU) who were abducted have been rescued. In a press release sent to media on Thursday (April 24), the organization made this claim. According to the press release, on the morning of April 16 around 6:30 AM, five CU students, including PCP member Rishon Chakma, were abducted from Giriful area in Khagrachhari Sadar. The abductors were reportedly forced to release them in phases due to intense public outrage, as confirmed by multiple sources.
The rescued students are Rishon Chakma, a PCP CU unit member and a student of International Relations department (2023–24 session); Aldrin Tripura, a student of Institute of Fine Arts (2023–24 session); Maitrimoy Chakma, another student of the same department and session; Dibby Chakma, a student of Theatre department (2023–24 session) and Longgi Sro, a student of the Zoology department (2023–24 session). Anwesh Chakma, President of Chittagong University unit of PCP, said, “We have learned from various sources that the five students have been released. Since we had informed media about the abduction and remained vocal on the issue, we issued this press release in line with our responsibility. The abducted students are now staying with their relatives.” Earlier, on April 16, while returning from Biju Festival in Baghaichhari, five students of Chittagong University and a driver were abducted. According to information from various sources, the abduction was allegedly carried out by United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF).
